New Delhi, July 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to the social media platform ‘X’ on Wednesday to share inspirational quotes and extend his greetings to the nation on the occasion of Guru Purnima.
In his post, PM Modi wrote, “Warm wishes to all citizens on Guru Purnima. Gurus not only impart knowledge but also instill positive energy in their disciples, educating them with good thoughts and values. Let us make their ideals a guiding force in our lives.”
He also shared a Sanskrit verse: “प्रेरकः सूचकश्चैव वाचको दर्शकस्तथा. शिक्षकः बोधकश्चैव षडेते गुरवः स्मृताः॥” This translates to the six forms of a guru, who inspires, guides, teaches, and leads one towards self-development and truth.
On the previous day, PM Modi had shared another quote emphasizing the importance of nature conservation, stating, “The welfare of humanity lies in the preservation and respect for nature. Our traditions inspire us to uphold this righteous conduct.” He included another Sanskrit verse: “लोकपालाश्च ते सर्वे वासवप्रमुखास्तथा. ऋतवः षट् च ते सर्वे मासाः संवत्सराः क्षपाः॥ दिनानि च मुहूर्ताश्च स्वस्ति कुर्वन्तु ते सदा. श्रुतिः स्मृतिश्च धर्मश्च पातु त्वां पुत्र सर्वतः॥” This verse highlights that a harmonious life with nature and righteousness is the foundation of happiness and security.
On Monday, he had also posted another Sanskrit verse: “शीलवान् पूजितो लोके, शीलवान् साधुसम्मतः. शीलवान् सर्वकर्मार्हः, शीलवान् प्रियदर्शनः॥” The meaning of this verse is that a virtuous person earns respect in society and is deemed worthy of every responsibility due to their character, which is attractive and exemplary for all. Ultimately, good character is the true foundation of success, effective leadership, and unwavering trust.
