Abhishek Banerjee Criticizes BJP for Prioritizing FIRs Over Public Welfare

Kolkata, July 29: Abhishek Banerjee, a Member of Parliament from the Trinamool Congress (TMC), has targeted the BJP government and certain media outlets through a post on the social media platform X. He accused them of filing multiple FIRs against him out of political malice.

Banerjee expressed his belief that since coming to power in West Bengal, the BJP government has spent more time filing FIRs against him than ensuring that the public benefits from schemes like Ayushman Bharat and Lakshmir Bhandar.

He also questioned certain media organizations, stating that some promote this political vendetta and ignore fundamental journalism principles while operating at the behest of those in power.

The TMC MP claimed that the same politically motivated individuals filing FIRs against him are targeting his public service initiatives in Diamond Harbour. These initiatives include organizing free health check-ups, COVID-19 testing, road construction, and infrastructure development in the area.

Banerjee remarked, “I never thought that the so-called double-engine government would shy away from development and good work to such an extent.”

Addressing his opponents and certain media members, he stated that such actions would neither intimidate him nor halt his work.

In closing, he wrote, “I want to tell them and my friends in the media that such strategies cannot scare me, nor can they slow me down. Do what you can. I will continue to do what the public elected me to do.”
