Greater Noida, July 29: In response to the tragic drowning of a young child in a pit at the Kaladhama Society located in Knowledge Park-II, the Greater Noida Authority has entered full action mode.
Taking this incident seriously, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) N.G. Ravi Kumar has issued clear directives to officials to secure any open pits, manholes, or accident-prone areas on roads, drains, and public spaces throughout the city. He warned that strict action would be taken against the relevant work circle teams if negligence leads to any future accidents in the area.
Following the CEO’s instructions, teams from the Authority’s project and water-sewer departments are conducting continuous inspections in their respective work circle areas. Under the leadership of senior managers, officials and staff are identifying all locations where accidents could potentially occur. Efforts are underway to install barricades, fill open pits, cover manholes, and secure open drains at a rapid pace. According to the Authority, over 100 sensitive locations have already been identified in the city, and necessary safety measures have been implemented.
Temporary and permanent barricades have been erected at several sites, open drains have been covered, and work to cover roadside drains is ongoing. Additionally, repairs to potholes on roads are being expedited to ensure that drivers and pedestrians do not face any inconvenience or accidents.
Sumit Yadav, the Additional Chief Executive Officer (ACE0) of the Greater Noida Authority, stated that all work circles have been instructed to conduct comprehensive surveys of their areas and fully secure each accident-prone location. He emphasized that this special campaign will continue until robust safety measures are ensured at all sensitive locations in the city.
The Authority asserts that road safety is of utmost priority, and any form of negligence will not be tolerated in the future. Officials believe that timely implementation of safety measures will effectively control accidents and ensure the safety of citizens. Furthermore, the Authority is urging residents to report any open pits, damaged roads, open manholes, or other hazardous locations in their vicinity immediately, so that prompt action can be taken to prevent potential accidents.
