Bhopal, July 29: Khajuraho Airport, a prominent international tourist destination in Madhya Pradesh, has been recognized for its exceptional passenger facilities. The airport now features a kids’ zone, child care services, and a fly library, making it easier for travelers to spend time there. These enhancements have propelled Khajuraho Airport to the top position in the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) survey conducted nationwide.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has introduced over 25 modern amenities at Khajuraho Airport to ensure a more convenient and comfortable travel experience. These include a kids’ zone, a fly library, child care, and baby feeding rooms.
According to Santosh Singh, the airport director, approximately 40,000 passengers traveled through Khajuraho Airport between January 1 and June 30, 2026. Based on positive feedback from travelers, the airport achieved the top ranking in the AAI’s Customer Satisfaction Index survey across the country.
Singh noted a steady increase in passenger numbers at Khajuraho Airport over the past few years. In 2022, 15,701 passengers used the airport, followed by 50,300 in 2023, 49,715 in 2024, and 51,543 in 2025. In just the first six months of 2026, nearly 40,000 passengers have already traveled, with six months still remaining in the year.
The airport director mentioned that regular flight services have been temporarily affected due to the airline’s operational and business plans over the past two months. However, regular flight operations are expected to resume in September.
Khajuraho Airport is equipped with a 2,286-meter runway, two aerobridges, ten aircraft parking stands, a CAT-1 Instrument Landing System (ILS), D-VOR, DME navigation systems, a modern air traffic control system, and a terminal building capable of handling 1.5 million passengers annually. Plans are also underway to install a radar surveillance system in the future.
