New Delhi, June 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee on his sacrifice day by sharing a Sanskrit verse on the social media platform ‘X’. In his post, he paid tribute to the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, stating, “I respectfully pay homage to the great personality of our nation, Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, who dedicated his life selflessly to the service of the nation and society. His profound thoughts and ideals will continue to inspire every generation to serve our motherland.”
The Prime Minister also shared a verse: “न कर्मणा न प्रजया धनेन त्यागेनैके अमृतत्वमानशुः. परेण नाकं निहितं गुहायां विभ्राजते यद्यतयो विशन्ति॥”
This translates to the idea that immortality is not achieved through actions, wealth, or lineage, but through sacrifice and complete dedication to high ideals. Those who renounce their selfish interests for the nation, society, and truth live on beyond the limits of time in the hearts of the people.
On this significant day, PM Modi expressed, “On his sacrifice day, I pay tribute to Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee. He was a great patriot, scholar, and politician who dedicated his life to the development of India.”
He further emphasized, “His unwavering resolve, courage in public life, and dedication to national interest will continue to inspire generations. Dr. Mukherjee’s sacrifice will always be etched in our collective memory. We reaffirm our commitment to building a strong and developed India, inspired by the values he upheld until his last moments.”
On the previous day, the Prime Minister had also posted a Sanskrit verse regarding the success of International Yoga Day, highlighting that yoga not only promotes physical health for millions worldwide but also inspires them to lead a positive life with confidence.
