Amritsar, August 26: Senior Congress leader Dr. Raj Kumar Verka expressed his views on various issues during a conversation with a news agency on Tuesday.
Verka commented on the potential alliance between the BJP and Akali Dal, stating, “I don’t believe this will benefit the people of Punjab or either party. They did not gain much when they attempted to contest the elections in 2022 under PM Modi’s name. In the 2024 elections, they again tried to leverage the Ram Temple and PM Modi’s name, but to no avail. The Akali Dal is also in a dire state. If you add zero to another zero, the result remains zero. Both these parties have been rejected in Punjab and are no longer relevant.”
He noted that the overall situation is quite different now. The BJP is claiming that no agreement has been reached. PM Modi and BL Santosh have also spoken against the Akali Dal. Despite this, Badal is still seeking support. “If they need assistance, they should turn to the people of Punjab, as the trust of the state’s residents in the central government has diminished,” he added.
Verka also responded to the parole granted to Ram Rahim, asserting that it is a political maneuver by the BJP, which has inflicted wounds on Punjab. “The BJP does not consider the sentiments of the people; they only see their political gain,” he stated.
Additionally, he provided information about Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming visit to Punjab, indicating that Gandhi is scheduled to arrive soon and will tour the entire state, including a bus journey.
