PM Modi Honors Indian Doctors Serving in Venezuela on Doctors Day

New Delhi, July 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Indian doctors and healthcare workers serving in Venezuela on the occasion of National Doctors‘ Day. He highlighted that these medical professionals, working under ‘Operation Amistad,’ are bringing pride to the nation by serving those in need under challenging circumstances.

In a message shared on social media platform X, PM Modi stated, “Today, as we celebrate Doctors’ Day, I commend all Indian doctors and healthcare professionals tirelessly serving in Venezuela under ‘Operation Amistad.’ Their efforts to assist those in need during such challenging times exemplify how our medical professionals step up to fulfill their responsibilities whenever society faces a challenge.”

The Prime Minister emphasized that the commitment, spirit of service, and humanitarian approach of Indian doctors are strengthening India’s positive identity worldwide. He described the contributions of the medical community as inspirational for society.

Earlier, PM Modi extended his best wishes to doctors across the country, appreciating their dedication, compassion, and relentless service. He remarked that the hard work, sensitivity, and commitment of doctors form the strong foundation of India’s healthcare system.

On Doctors’ Day, he conveyed heartfelt wishes to dedicated physicians, stating, “Their hard work, compassion, and commitment to service are the backbone of India’s healthcare system. Even in the most difficult circumstances, their tireless efforts have earned the trust and gratitude of millions.”

He noted that India has made remarkable progress in strengthening its healthcare sector over the past decade. According to the Prime Minister, the number of medical colleges in the country has more than doubled, with significant increases in undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) medical seats.

PM Modi mentioned that this unprecedented expansion in medical education is creating new opportunities for future doctors, preparing a strong human resource for the country’s healthcare services, and ensuring that quality medical services reach every corner of the nation.

He stated, “The role of doctors will be even more crucial in building a developed India. Doctors will not only promote preventive healthcare but also play a leading role in advancing medical research, embracing innovation, and providing affordable and accessible health services for all citizens.”

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to all doctors and the medical community, stating that their contributions are invaluable in building a healthy, capable, and self-reliant India.

‘Operation Amistad’ is a humanitarian initiative launched by the Indian government following a devastating earthquake in Venezuela. Under the HADR mission, India has sent a 41-member medical team, two ‘Bhishma’ portable hospitals, and over 66 tons of essential relief supplies and medicines to Venezuela.
