Prime Minister Modi gifted President Macron a renowned handcrafted Kalamkari painting of the Mahabharata from Andhra Pradesh. This artwork took nearly six months to create. The painting, made in the traditional Kalamkari style, depicts various episodes from the Mahabharata, illustrating timeless values such as righteousness, justice, courage, and moral decision-making.
A key feature of the painting is the message from the Bhagavad Gita, where Lord Krishna guides Arjuna on duty, self-restraint, and inner strength. Additionally, Prime Minister Modi presented Brigitte Macron with a Pochampally silk stole from Telangana. This handwoven silk stole is crafted using the traditional Ikat resist-dyeing technique and is famous for its striking geometric and floral designs, exquisite craftsmanship, and elegant texture.
This stole, representing a beautiful blend of Indian tradition and modern artistry, is considered a symbol of India’s rich textile heritage. Given France’s deep interest in fashion, art, and fine craftsmanship, this gift is seen as a means to strengthen cultural ties between the two nations.
