Tragic Loss: Seven Lives Claimed in Andhra Pradesh Domestic Incidents

Amaravati, June 19: In Andhra Pradesh, two separate incidents have resulted in the tragic deaths of seven family members, including five minors. Authorities reported that these events stemmed from domestic issues.

In one incident, a man took the lives of his three children before committing suicide. In another case, a woman jumped in front of a moving train with her two children. These incidents occurred in the districts of Prakasam and Srikakulam.

In the Prakasam district’s Aghraharam village, a man named Ekula Sudhakar, aged 35, poisoned his three minor daughters before hanging himself. Distressed by his wife’s absence, Sudhakar killed his daughters—Gochita (13), Poojita (11), and Lokita (8)—by administering poison in their food. After their deaths, he went to a nearby field and hanged himself.

Authorities have sent the bodies for post-mortem examination. A police officer confirmed that a case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.

In the second incident in Srikakulam district, a woman named Pooja, aged 28, committed suicide along with her two children by stepping in front of a moving train. The bodies of Pooja, her son Kushant (5), and daughter Dikshita (3) were discovered on the railway tracks between Palasa and Talabadra. Local residents alerted the railway police.

The police have taken the bodies into custody for post-mortem and initiated an investigation. It is believed that domestic problems prompted Pooja to take this drastic step. Preliminary investigations revealed that she had disagreements with her husband.

Pooja, a resident of Bhavanapadu in Srikakulam, had married Venkataiah from Chalamayyapeta in the same district eight years ago. The family was residing in Vijayawada and had come to Chalamayyapeta for the summer holidays.

On Thursday morning, Pooja left home with her children. Reports suggest they spent Thursday night at Palasa railway station. Later, she took her children to the railway tracks, held them tightly, and sat there as a speeding train passed over them.

Pooja’s mother has alleged that harassment from in-laws led her to take this tragic decision with her children.
