Kerala, September 14 (Daily Kiran) : Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim visited Kerala during the 18th BRICS Summit, where he participated in a remembrance and prayer gathering at the Sunni Cultural Center. This event was attended by India’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Abu Bakr Ahmad, who presented him with the Sheikh Abu Bakr Foundation Excellence Award.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X,’ Ibrahim expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to join the gathering alongside a Malaysian delegation. He noted that the event was led by Grand Mufti Sheikh Abu Bakr Ahmad and attended by esteemed scholars and nearly 2,000 students from Kerala.
Ibrahim humbly accepted the Sheikh Abu Bakr Foundation Excellence Award, dedicating it to scholars, religious leaders, scientists, and knowledge enthusiasts who have devoted their lives to spreading faith and enhancing the dignity of the community.
He emphasized Malaysia’s ongoing support for educational and religious initiatives in collaboration with religious scholars. This includes studying and concluding Hadith literature. Ibrahim expressed hope that these efforts would strengthen ties between Malaysia and Kerala, enrich the tradition of knowledge, and cultivate a generation that is strong in faith, rich in knowledge, and excellent in character.
During his visit, he also had the opportunity to meet Grand Mufti Sheikh Abu Bakr Ahmad at the Markazus Sakafati Sunniah in Karathur, where they discussed the challenges and opportunities presented by artificial intelligence (AI). He remarked that while AI opens new avenues for knowledge and progress, it also poses significant challenges to faith, moral values, and human intellectual freedom. Therefore, they discussed creating an approach to AI based on Islamic principles, aiming to balance technological advancement with human values and ethics.
Ibrahim concluded that these discussions would continue to ensure the benefits of AI are maximized without compromising faith, moral values, and humanity.
