Prime Minister Modi to Visit Odisha on June 20, Unveiling Development Projects Worth ₹47,600 Crore

New Delhi, June 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Odisha on June 20, 2026. President Droupadi Murmu will accompany him during this significant trip. The event will feature the inauguration and foundation-laying of several development projects.

In the morning, around 11:15 AM, the President and Prime Minister will visit the village of Pahadpur in Mayurbhanj district. They will offer prayers at the sacred sites of Santhali Jehra and Ho Jehra, as well as at the Skill Center and Pahadpur School. This visit is seen as crucial for enhancing educational opportunities, skill development, and socio-economic empowerment among tribal and rural communities.

Around 1 PM, they will participate in a program in Rairangpur, Mayurbhanj district, marking the completion of two years of the Odisha government. The event, themed ‘Vikas Dhara, Odisha Sara,’ will witness the inauguration and foundation-laying of various projects worth over ₹47,600 crore. The Prime Minister will also address the gathering.

During this program, projects in key sectors such as energy, industrial infrastructure, road connectivity, drinking water, health, education, tourism, and irrigation will be inaugurated and laid. These initiatives aim to strengthen infrastructure across Odisha, improve connectivity, enhance energy security, and create job opportunities. Reflecting the Prime Minister’s vision for inclusive and holistic development, these efforts will accelerate growth in tribal and rural areas, ensuring that the benefits reach every corner of the state.

Key projects to be inaugurated include the 600 MW Upper Indravati Pump Storage Project and the Phase-II expansion of the IB Thermal Power Station, which will add two units of 660 MW. These projects will enhance energy security in Odisha and promote economic growth. Additionally, the foundation stone for the Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited (BCGCL) project in Lakhanpur, Jharsuguda district, will be laid, promoting the clean use of domestic coal resources, reducing import dependence, and creating new industrial and employment opportunities in the region.

Other projects include a 300 TPD capacity source-separated municipal solid waste-based compressed biogas plant in Bhubaneswar, a bridge connecting Cuttack and Bhubaneswar over the Kathajodi River, road widening and strengthening in Baudh district, and the construction of a four-lane segment of NH-353 from Nuapada to Ghatipada. The Kusumdihi Mega Lift Irrigation Project, IGNOU Regional Center, and an indoor badminton complex in Rairangpur are also part of the agenda.

A 300-bed district headquarters hospital building will be inaugurated in Baudh, along with 24 Atal bus stands and nine automated testing centers across various districts in Odisha. These projects are expected to strengthen healthcare and public transportation infrastructure in the state. Other significant inaugurations include the Nayagarh Town bypass on NH-57, the underground pipeline component of the Kusumi Smart Irrigation Project, and multi-tracking projects on various roads, including the Hindol Road-Meramandali multi-tracking project and the sports complex and tribal research center in Rairangpur.
