PM Modi Expresses Grief Over Actor Salim Kumars Passing

New Delhi, June 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow on Sunday over the passing of Malayalam actor Salim Kumar. PM Modi stated that Kumar carved a unique identity through his versatile talent and memorable performances across various roles.

On the social media platform X, PM Modi wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the demise of the legendary actor Salim Kumar. Throughout his illustrious career, he established a distinct identity with his versatile talent and unforgettable performances in diverse roles. My condolences are with his family and countless fans during this time of grief.”

The official X account of the Kerala Raj Bhavan also conveyed deep sorrow from Governor Arif Mohammed Khan regarding Kumar’s death. He extended his sympathies to the late actor’s family and loved ones, praying for the peace of his soul.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan noted that Kumar began his journey as a mimicry artist and later became a national award-winning actor, making a significant mark in the film industry. He emphasized that Kumar’s talent, versatile acting, and dedication will continue to inspire future generations.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra remarked that as an actor, comedian, writer, and director, Salim Kumar brought joy and warmth to the lives of millions with his extraordinary talent. His contributions to Indian cinema will always be remembered.

Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar called him a great artist, stating that his impeccable comic timing entertained generations of Malayalam audiences while his remarkable performances in serious roles left an indelible mark. He added that Kumar’s memorable roles will forever live in the hearts of viewers.

Meanwhile, in Kochi, Union Minister Suresh Gopi also paid tribute to the national award-winning actor, offering his last respects by visiting Kumar’s mortal remains.

Salim Kumar contributed nearly three decades to Malayalam cinema. He garnered acclaim from both audiences and critics for his performances in comedic as well as serious roles. He was honored with a National Film Award for his acting in the film “Adaminte Makan Abu.”
