Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to Attend NITI Aayog Meeting in New Delhi on June 11

New Delhi, June 7: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Tamilaga Vetrikazhagam President C. Joseph Vijay will visit New Delhi on June 11. He is set to participate in the NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This will mark his second visit to the national capital in the past two weeks.

While the meeting will primarily focus on governance and development issues, political analysts are closely watching for potential political activities from the Chief Minister. It is speculated that he may meet with leaders of opposition parties, particularly those aligned against the BJP.

According to official sources, Chief Minister Vijay plans to raise several financial and developmental issues related to Tamil Nadu during this platform. He may request increased support from the central government for infrastructure projects, welfare schemes, and development initiatives that will play a crucial role in the state’s upcoming budget.

State government officials indicate that the Chief Minister might also address concerns regarding pending funds and financial allocations for centrally sponsored schemes. Issues such as rural employment programs, education funding, and the economic challenges faced by states are likely to be discussed during the meeting.

This meeting comes at a time when India is grappling with economic challenges, including instability in West Asia and its impact on energy markets, which has increased inflationary pressures on governments, businesses, and the general public.

Politically, this visit is being closely monitored. Chief Minister Vijay previously visited Delhi on May 27, where he met with Prime Minister Modi and several central ministers, but did not have the opportunity to meet Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge.

At that time, Congress leaders stated they were preoccupied with political developments in Karnataka, while the Tamilaga Vetrikazhagam maintained that the visit was entirely official.

It remains unclear whether Vijay will meet with leaders from the CPI and CPI(M), whose parties are providing external support to the Tamilaga Vetrikazhagam government.

Meanwhile, signs of shifts in the political landscape of the India alliance are emerging. Speculation has intensified regarding new political equations within the opposition alliance following DMK’s recent distancing from meetings and expressing differences with Congress.

Amidst all these circumstances, Chief Minister Vijay’s visit to New Delhi on June 11 is seen as an opportunity not only to present Tamil Nadu’s issues to the central government but also to strengthen his party’s position in national politics.
