New Delhi, June 7: A heartbreaking incident occurred in the Metro Vihar Colony of Holambi Khurd, resulting in the death of a 7-year-old girl. Reports indicate that the dilapidated structure of a long-closed public toilet and administrative negligence led to this tragedy. Local residents are expressing significant outrage following the incident.
The unfortunate event took place when a gas vent pillar collapsed on the safety tank of a public toilet, striking 7-year-old Tanya. She sustained severe injuries and later succumbed to them.
Tanya was a third-grade student. According to her family, she was playing with other children in the colony when the accident happened. The atmosphere in the area is filled with grief, and her family is devastated.
Residents claim that the public toilet near the incident site had been closed for a long time, with no maintenance or oversight. They have reported the deteriorating structure and open sewer holes to the relevant authorities multiple times, but no action was taken.
Following the accident, there has been significant anger directed at the administration and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). Locals believe that timely maintenance and safety measures could have saved the young girl’s life. Currently, police and the relevant departments are investigating the matter.
