Pakistans Interior Minister Visits Iran with Special Message for Supreme Leader

New Delhi, June 7: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has arrived in Iran with a special message from the Chief of the Pakistani Army. On Saturday night, he met with his Iranian counterpart, Eskandar Momeni. This meeting is seen as a significant step towards strengthening diplomatic dialogue and relations between the two nations.

According to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Naqvi reiterated that he brought a message for Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei. The Pakistani Interior Minister is also carrying a message from Army Chief Field Marshal Munir, intended for Khamenei.

IRNA reports that Naqvi’s visit aims to facilitate high-level discussions between Iranian officials as part of Islamabad’s mediation efforts between Iran and the United States. He is scheduled to engage with various Iranian officials, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Previously, Naqvi visited Tehran in April alongside the Army Chief. He has made official trips to Iran twice in late May and early June.

Following their midnight meeting, Momeni remarked that Pakistan is a significant country with deep-rooted religious and cultural ties to Iran. He emphasized that Pakistan is a friend, brother, and neighbor. The leader also referenced the cultural and historical similarities between the two nations in his initial message.

Naqvi’s multiple visits to Iran this year have included meetings with President Masoud Pezeshkian, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and Minister Momeni.
