New Delhi, June 7: A fire erupted in a scanning room near Gate Number 4 at Karkardooma Court early Sunday morning. Fire department teams worked diligently to control the blaze. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries or casualties.
According to reports, the fire started on the second floor of the scanning room. Fire department officials received the alert around 5:22 AM, prompting the dispatch of eight fire engines to the scene.
By 6:05 AM, Divisional Officer Mukesh Verma confirmed via a ‘stop message’ that the fire had been extinguished. However, it was revealed that some documents were burned in the incident. No official details regarding the nature of these documents have been disclosed.
In a related note, a fire at a restaurant in Malviya Nagar recently claimed the lives of at least 21 people, including several foreign nationals. Over 15 others were injured, with many still receiving treatment in hospitals.
Sources connected to the Delhi Police indicated that the restaurant fire was caused by a short circuit. However, investigators found no evidence of an LPG cylinder explosion during the incident. In connection with this fire, the Delhi Police arrested the restaurant’s cook on Saturday.
The arrested individual has been identified as Keshav Negi, a resident of Dilshad Garden. The police investigation revealed that negligence on the part of the cook contributed to the fire. During the inquiry, officials reportedly discovered multiple violations of safety regulations and serious deficiencies in the building’s fire safety infrastructure.
