Beijing, August 27: Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and Foreign Minister, met with US Ambassador David Perdue in Beijing.
Wang Yi emphasized that there are still numerous risks and challenges facing China-US relations. He urged both parties to effectively implement the significant agreements reached between the heads of state. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of managing differences appropriately while focusing on a positive agenda. Both sides need to eliminate barriers to high-level communications and work together to advance China-US relations in a stable, healthy, and sustainable direction.
Perdue acknowledged that the leaders of both nations have set a crucial strategic direction for China-US relations. He noted that President Trump’s visit to China in May was highly successful. Both parties are prepared to strengthen communication, enhance cooperation, and prepare for the next phase of significant high-level contacts. Furthermore, both countries aspire to develop constructive and stable China-US relations based on respect and equality.
Additionally, Perdue expressed condolences on behalf of the US for the victims of the landslide in Qilong, Tibet Autonomous Region.
