
New Delhi: On the eve of Republic Day, the central government on Sunday announced the names of the recipients of the prestigious Padma Awards, including Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri. The Ministry of Home Affairs released the official list of awardees for the year.
The list includes 5 Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri awardees. Among them, 19 are women, and the list also features six individuals under the foreign, NRI, PIO, and OCI categories. Additionally, 16 awards were conferred posthumously.

Late actor Dharmendra Singh Deol was honoured posthumously with the Padma Vibhushan. In the field of public affairs, K T Thomas from Kerala received the award. Other recipients of the Padma Vibhushan include N Rajam from Uttar Pradesh for arts, P Narayanan from Kerala for literature and education, and the late V S Achuthanandan from Kerala for public affairs.

The Padma Bhushan list includes notable names such as Alka Yagnik from Maharashtra, Bhagat Singh Koshyari from Uttarakhand, Kallipatti Ramasamy Palaniswami from Tamil Nadu, Malayalam actor Mammootty from Kerala, Dr. Nori Dattatreya from the USA, and tennis legend Vijay Amritraj. Posthumous awards were given to Piyush Pandey (Maharashtra), former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren, V K Malhotra (Delhi), and others.
