Mumbai, April 14: Naseem Siddiqui, a leader from the NCP (SP), commented on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s resignation, stating that a personality like Kumar will fade into the shadows of Delhi. In a conversation in Mumbai, he remarked that Kumar is reaping the consequences of his past actions. Had Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu made the right decisions two years ago, Kumar could have been the Deputy Prime Minister of India today.
Siddiqui expressed that Kumar’s current predicament leaves him neither here nor there. He emphasized that Kumar’s political power in Bihar is now permanently lost. He accused the BJP of executing their plans effectively, leaving Kumar to face the repercussions of his choices.
Targeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Siddiqui claimed that Shah is misleading the public. He suggested that Shah is aware of the Election Commission’s manipulation, with an agent named Gyanesh Kumar working on his behalf. According to Siddiqui, the Election Commission has been compromised, and the Supreme Court has previously labeled the CBI as a mere puppet. He asserted that the Election Commission now operates under the directives of the Home Ministry rather than the Supreme Court.
Siddiqui also highlighted the importance of voter engagement in democracies worldwide. He noted that Rajiv Gandhi lowered the voting age from 21 to 18 to encourage youth participation. However, he criticized the Modi government for allegedly reducing the voter base by millions. He claimed that instead of promoting democracy, there is a systematic effort to diminish it, with voter lists being manipulated to favor certain ideologies while excluding dissenters.
On the occasion of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary, Siddiqui emphasized the significance of this day for India’s Constitution and freedom. He expressed gratitude for having a visionary like Ambedkar, who crafted one of the world’s finest constitutions.
Challenging the notion of a Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Siddiqui recalled Ambedkar’s assertion that India is a land of diverse religions and communities, each granted freedom of religion. He accused the BJP of instilling fear among Muslims under the guise of UCC. He challenged the party to unite the 85% of the population, including the Bahujan Samaj, upper castes, and Dalits, without the Muslim community, and if successful, he would encourage Muslims to accept the UCC.
Addressing women’s safety, Siddiqui lamented that women in India are far from secure. He cited various incidents, including the Unnao rape case and attacks on medal-winning daughters from Haryana, as evidence of the ongoing crisis. He pointed out that such incidents have occurred under the current administration, with the recent case in Nashik being particularly disgraceful.
