Women Empowerment Bill to Enhance Female Participation in Governance: CM Mohan Yadav

Indore, April 14: Emphasizing the increasing role of women in nation-building, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated on Tuesday that the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’, also known as the Women’s Reservation Bill, will open new avenues for female participation in governance and policy-making.

Speaking at the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Conference’ held at the Lata Mangeshkar Auditorium in Indore, the Chief Minister remarked, “This decision, taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is one of the most significant decisions of this century. It will ensure that women’s voices are further empowered within the country’s democratic framework.”

Highlighting the importance of the law, he noted that the bill provides for 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, making the decision-making process more inclusive and balanced.

He further stated that this initiative will not only politically empower women but also strengthen the foundations of democracy. The Chief Minister emphasized that the recent policy decisions reflect Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to women’s welfare and dignity.

He mentioned that initiatives aimed at protecting women’s rights have contributed to their growing confidence and participation in public life.

Connecting this initiative to India’s broader development vision, Yadav asserted that increased representation of women will be crucial in achieving the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047. Citing the ideals of B.R. Ambedkar, he stated that this bill advances the vision of equality and equal opportunity.

The event saw a large turnout of women, including members of self-help groups, entrepreneurs, and representatives from cultural and social sectors.

Exhibitions showcasing products made by women’s groups were also held, highlighting their increasing contribution to economic activities.

Addressing the gathering, BJP legislator Malini Gaud remarked that this bill will mark a decisive turning point, ensuring that women are not just beneficiaries of policies but also active contributors in decision-making processes.
