Amit Shah to Address Four Rallies in West Bengal Amid Upcoming Elections

Kolkata, April 15: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address four public rallies in West Bengal on Wednesday, coinciding with the Bengali New Year. This comes as the state prepares for two phases of assembly elections later this month.

Shah’s schedule begins at 11:30 AM with a rally at Lobong Ground in Darjeeling district. He will then move to Rajganj in Jalpaiguri district at 1 PM, followed by a rally in Falakata, Alipurduar district at 2:30 PM, and concluding with an event in Tufanganj, Cooch Behar district at 4 PM.

Just a day before Shah’s scheduled rally in Falakata, the BJP candidate and current MLA from that constituency was reportedly attacked by Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers, led by Ravi Minj, the head of the local panchayat. The attack occurred while the candidate was campaigning door-to-door, resulting in serious injuries to his driver.

Local TMC leadership has denied these allegations. Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will not address any rallies on Wednesday but will conduct two roadshows in Siliguri and Mal.

Additionally, TMC General Secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee will chair an important organizational meeting in his constituency, Diamond Harbour. He held a virtual meeting with TMC leaders on Tuesday, urging them to work together and avoid internal conflicts ahead of the elections.

The assembly elections in West Bengal will take place in two phases on April 23 and April 29. The first phase will cover 152 constituencies, primarily in northern Bengal and parts of southern Bengal. The second phase will involve voting in the remaining 142 constituencies, mainly around the state capital, Kolkata.
