Nitin Naveen Expresses Grief Over Devastating Floods in Nepal, Promises Support

New Delhi, August 26: Nitin Naveen, the National President of the BJP, has expressed deep sorrow over the significant loss of life and destruction caused by severe flooding in the Rasuwa district of Nepal.

He took to the X platform to share his condolences, stating that the extensive human loss and devastation from the floods in Nepal is profoundly tragic. He prayed for the safety and well-being of the Nepali people, adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured Nepal’s Prime Minister of all possible assistance from India.

Reports indicate that the flooding in Rasuwa has caused widespread destruction. Local media have confirmed that several people have died, with many others reported missing.

According to Kantipur News, DIG Deepak Regmi, the police chief of Bagmati Province, has confirmed the recovery of bodies. He noted that two injured individuals have been sent to Kathmandu for treatment.

The Kathmandu Post reported that, as of Wednesday afternoon, 25 individuals have been safely rescued, with the Nepali Army, Armed Police Force (APF), and Nepal Police, supported by 14 helicopters, actively engaged in rescue and relief operations.

Four soldiers stationed at an APF border post in northern Rasuwa, near the Nepal-China border, have been missing since the sudden onset of the floods. APF spokesperson Deputy Inspector General Netra Bahadur Karki stated that contact with these soldiers has been lost, although the border post itself has not sustained any damage, and efforts to locate the soldiers are ongoing.

Unconfirmed local media reports suggest that 14 employees from the Rasuwa Customs Office are also unaccounted for. Additionally, a spokesperson for the Nepal Police indicated that 32 soldiers are missing as well, according to a report by Kantipur Television.

The Himalayan Times noted that the floods have swept away approximately 60 houses near Trishuli Bazaar in Nuwakot district and have damaged two bridges.

In light of the serious situation, Nepal’s Prime Minister Balendra Shah convened a meeting with federal lawmakers from the affected districts, including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, and Chitwan, to review relief and rescue efforts.
