Lucknow, August 26: In response to the severe flooding in the Bhote Koshi River in Nepal’s Rasuwa region, vigilance has been heightened in the bordering districts of Maharajganj and Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep concern over the damage caused by the flooding in Nepal and has directed local authorities to ensure all necessary preparations are in place.
The flooding is expected to raise water levels in the Gandak and Narayani rivers, impacting Maharajganj and Kushinagar. CM Adityanath has instructed local administrations to closely monitor river levels and maintain full alertness. He emphasized the seriousness of the situation and prayed to Lord Pashupatinath for the safety of all.
He reiterated that the damage from the flooding in Nepal is alarming. In light of the potential rise in water levels and the risk of flooding in Uttar Pradesh, he has directed local authorities to remain vigilant and make necessary preparations.
Certain villages in Maharajganj district, including Sohagibarwa, Bhotiyahi, and Shikarpur, have been identified as sensitive to potential flooding. As pressure from water flowing in from Nepal increases, these areas may experience flooding effects. Authorities are continuously monitoring the situation, and the flood status in Uttar Pradesh may become clearer in the coming hours based on incoming water levels from Nepal.
