New Delhi, June 21: The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced on Sunday that the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination was not just a test but a demonstration of “Team India” working together. This collaborative effort involved central and state governments, security agencies, various ministries, educational institutions, and millions of officials to ensure a fair and smooth examination for over 2 million candidates.
In a detailed post shared on the social media platform X, the NTA revealed that on June 21, more than 2 million candidates took the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination at 5,440 centers across the country and 14 centers abroad. The exam was conducted in 13 languages, including Hindi and English.
The NTA emphasized that this was not solely the agency’s effort but a series of contributions from thousands of individuals nationwide, ensuring that on exam day, every candidate could focus entirely on the question paper.
According to the agency, special arrangements were made for over 10,000 candidates with disabilities. Additionally, separate provisions were set up for around 81 students facing serious medical conditions, including one injured in a road accident and another undergoing chemotherapy. The NTA noted that special planning and coordination were essential to provide examination facilities for these candidates.
To ensure the security and transparency of the examination, biometric and facial authentication based on Aadhaar, CCTV monitoring, jammers, and a two-tier search system with the assistance of state police were implemented. National-level command and control centers were established by the NTA and the Ministry of Education for CCTV monitoring. Monitoring systems were also set up in 34 centrally funded institutions under the higher education department, as well as in all states and district collector offices.
The NTA reported that various institutions, including the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), the Ministry of External Affairs, the Postal Department, the Indian Air Force, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the National Informatics Centre (NIC), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the Department of Financial Services, the Ministry of Defence, and the Ministry of Education collaborated in the examination’s execution. Additionally, banks like SBI, Canara Bank, Punjab National Bank, and UCO Bank were also part of this initiative.
The agency praised the role of state governments, as many states provided shade, drinking water, and food for students and parents at examination centers. Ambulances and medical facilities were kept on standby, and in several states, free transportation was offered to candidates on exam day.
According to the NTA, approximately 700,000 officials, police personnel, supervisors, and examination staff were deployed nationwide for this massive examination event. The entire process was completed in a record 37 days. The agency also expressed gratitude to the educators and experts who dedicated their personal time to prepare multiple sets of question papers.
In conclusion, the NTA stated that the examination, conducted for over 2 million candidates, was a remarkable coordination of the country’s administrative, police, district, and local systems. Wishing all students the best, the agency remarked that this examination was successfully completed with the commitment of “fair opportunity, new beginnings.”
