Patna, April 9: JD(U) leader Neeraj Kumar has sharply criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, stating that the public’s affection for her has waned, and there is no longer any love for her in their hearts.
In a conversation in Patna, Kumar remarked on the recent assembly election defeat of Tejashwi Yadav in Bihar, suggesting that Mamata Banerjee might face a similar fate. He expressed concerns that she could abandon her state just as Yadav did.
Kumar also addressed comments made by BJP National President Nitin Naveen regarding Banerjee’s governance style, which he deemed justified. He pointed out that throughout her election campaign, Banerjee failed to highlight the work done for the public’s benefit. Instead, she focused on issues like SIR and officials. He emphasized that the Constitution recognizes those born in the country as its natives, and the presence of foreigners is not acceptable to many. Kumar accused Banerjee of politicizing these issues, leading the public to turn away from her.
On the topic of Congress councilor Faujia Sheikh’s refusal to sing “Vande Mataram,” Kumar condemned her actions, stating that such behavior is entirely inappropriate. He insisted that anyone who refuses to sing the anthem should be expelled from the Congress party.
Regarding Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s upcoming term in the Rajya Sabha, Neeraj Kumar acknowledged that while the party and the people of Bihar had reservations about this decision, they respected it. He praised Nitish Kumar as a leader who has never sought positions for themselves, always prioritizing progress. A new Chief Minister will be elected following constitutional procedures.
Kumar stated that after a long period since independence, a special session will pass the Women’s Reservation Bill, fulfilling Ram Manohar Lohia’s vision. Nitish Kumar will be present in the Rajya Sabha during discussions on this significant bill for women’s empowerment.
He also noted that the Election Commission is ensuring a one-day voting process in Assam, a state previously affected by insurgency, which used to conduct elections in multiple phases.
