Prime Minister Modi Celebrates Slovak Culture During Historic Visit

New Delhi, June 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shared photos from his recent visit to Slovakia. He expressed gratitude for the warmth and affection shown by the Indian community there. Additionally, he praised the performance of the ‘Kopanisijarik’ group from the Myjava region of Slovakia.

On the social media platform ‘X’, Prime Minister Modi shared images of his interactions with Indian citizens. He noted, “The warm welcome I received in Bratislava on Sunday evening was truly special. I am grateful for the affection and warmth from the Indian community. Such sentiments reflect the deep ties between our people and strengthen the friendship between India and Slovakia.”

He also commented on the traditional welcome of bread and salt in Bratislava, stating, “The offering of bread and salt during the welcome ceremony beautifully showcases Slovakia’s rich cultural heritage and their values of goodwill and friendship.”

In another post on ‘X’, he mentioned, “I witnessed a splendid performance by the ‘Kopanisijarik’ group from Slovakia’s Myjava region. Such folk traditions help preserve culture and history.”

Moreover, he expressed joy over the singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ during the welcome ceremony. He wrote, “The Luknika Ensemble performed ‘Vande Mataram’ during the welcome in Bratislava. This occurs at a time when we are celebrating 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’ and remembering its significant contribution to India’s history and freedom struggle.”

It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Modi arrived in Bratislava on a two-day official visit to the European nation. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that this is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister since Slovakia’s independence, marking a historic milestone in India-Slovakia relations.

Randhir Jaiswal also shared on ‘X’, “Upon arrival at the hotel, Prime Minister was welcomed by Juraj Blanar, the Slovak Republic’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs. He was warmly greeted in the Slovak manner with bread and salt, symbolizing hospitality, respect, and goodwill. This visit will strengthen the ties between both countries and open new avenues for partnership.”
