Mumbai, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : Shiv Sena spokesperson Krishna Hegde has raised concerns about the lack of women’s representation within the Karnataka Congress. His remarks come amid discussions surrounding various issues, including the Garba entry controversy and Congress leader Harish Rawat’s offer to resign from all party positions.
Hegde criticized the Congress for appointing only men as new district presidents in Karnataka, pointing out that there are no female ministers in the state cabinet either. He emphasized that the Congress organization is male-dominated and fails to provide adequate representation for women. Hegde referred to the party’s previous conditional support for the Women’s Reservation Bill, arguing that recent appointments reveal a contradictory stance.
He highlighted that both the BJP and NDA have advocated for greater representation of women. Hegde urged the Congress women’s wing to raise their voices on this issue, suggesting that women supporting the party should reconsider their stance given the current situation.
Regarding Harish Rawat’s resignation offer, Hegde mentioned that cash and valuables were discovered during an Enforcement Directorate raid at the residence of Rawat’s former officer on special duty. Following this incident, Rawat reportedly expressed his desire to step down to protect the party’s image. The final decision on his resignation will be made by the Congress high command, as investigations continue.
On the Garba entry debate, Hegde referenced RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s view that people of all religions should participate in Hindu festivals. He argued that such involvement fosters social unity and brotherhood. Hegde called for enhanced security measures at Garba events to prevent disturbances, noting that some individuals attempt to gain entry with fake identification.
He characterized statements made by Nitesh Rane and Abu Asim Azmi on this topic as personal opinions. Hegde expressed his belief that respectful participation in each other’s festivals can strengthen unity and camaraderie in the country.
Lastly, he commented on the bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during the BRICS summit. Hegde recognized the summit’s significance, which included leaders from major nations like China and Russia. Discussions covered trade in local currencies, cooperation in artificial intelligence, and strategies to resolve international conflicts. Modi also raised concerns about the safety of Indian merchant navy personnel navigating maritime routes linked to Iran.
Hegde described the BRICS summit as an economically and diplomatically vital opportunity for India, praising Modi’s global leadership and the respect he garners from other nations.
