New Delhi, June 16: Professor Salim Engineer, Vice President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, welcomed the proposed peace agreement between Iran and the United States, calling it a positive and relieving step for the entire world. He expressed hope that both nations would soon sign the final agreement, which could ease long-standing tensions in the region.
Engineer stated that reaching an agreement between Iran and the US is a cause for celebration. He believes this deal will reduce pressure in the West Asia region and help resolve disruptions in gas and petroleum supplies. Recently, supply issues have led to rising prices for essential commodities like petrol and diesel. Therefore, the benefits of this agreement could extend beyond regional countries to nations like India as well.
He noted that this agreement was made possible after several days of discussions and efforts. Engineer also praised the people of Iran for demonstrating courage and patience in the face of conflict and war. They have shown the world how a united front can withstand external pressure or attacks. However, he expressed concern over the situation in Gaza, urging countries to pressure Israel and its supporter, the US, to halt the ongoing violence and loss of life there.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena spokesperson Shaina NC also reacted to the developments, emphasizing the hope that the Strait of Hormuz remains open, as it is crucial for trade between India and many other nations. India has consistently promoted peace, and under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the country has conveyed messages of stability on international issues, from Russia-Ukraine to Israel-Iran. India’s sole objective is to maintain peace and harmony in the world.
