Bid, June 23: Tensions escalated in Maharashtra’s Bid district on Tuesday as residents of Takali village launched a vigorous protest demanding the arrest of those involved in the Vilas Ghule murder case. Four days have passed since the incident, yet no arrests have been made, leading to significant public outrage.
Reports indicate that a young man from the Koli community was involved in a brawl in Takali village. Vilas Ghule intervened to resolve the dispute but was attacked with a sharp weapon, resulting in his death. Since the incident, the victim’s family and villagers have been persistently calling for the arrest of the perpetrators.
On Tuesday, a large number of villagers took to the streets, declaring a roadblock at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk, effectively shutting down the Ambajogai-Ahilyanagar highway. They began their protest by sitting on the road, demanding justice.
Protesters have stated that their movement will continue until all suspects are apprehended. In response to the unrest, local police have heightened security measures, deploying a significant police presence throughout the area.
The confrontation began late Saturday night near a hotel on Keg Road, where a dispute escalated into violence. Vilas Ghule, a resident of Takali, arrived at the scene to mediate but was attacked multiple times with a sharp weapon.
