Ayodhya, July 19: The police investigation into the Ram Temple donation theft case is ongoing. Authorities have conducted extensive questioning of the main accused, Ramshankar Yadav, also known as ‘Tinnu’, and his nephew, Manish Yadav, during a 39-hour custody remand.
The police obtained a 39-hour remand from the court, leading to the detention of both suspects around 8 AM on Saturday. By approximately 3 AM on Sunday, the police took Ramshankar and Manish Yadav back to their residence. Investigating officer Ashutosh Tiwari also escorted Ramshankar to the Ram Janmabhoomi complex around the same time.
Interrogation of both suspects is currently taking place at the police lines. Officer Tiwari is working to reconstruct the events and validate the evidence gathered in the initial stages of the investigation.
Information revealed during questioning indicates that all keys to the donation boxes at the Ram Temple were allegedly kept by Ramshankar Yadav without any official permission. The role of a senior member of the trust has also come to light, as this individual reportedly handed over the keys to Tinnu without following any official procedures.
The investigation has further uncovered that Ramshankar Yadav had unrestricted access to the temple premises and could enter through any gate without prior approval. He is also accused of having free access to the area where donations are counted.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Tinnu allegedly appointed his nephew Manish Yadav to the donation counting team. Police have recovered approximately 200,000 rupees, reportedly stolen from the temple’s donation boxes, from Manish Yadav.
Additionally, it has come to light that Ramshankar Yadav allegedly established a construction company under his wife’s name. Authorities are also probing claims that his son secured a job in the Public Works Department (PWD) by leveraging the influence associated with the Ram Temple.
Officials have stated that questioning of both suspects is ongoing, and police hope to uncover more significant revelations during the remaining time of their custody. The police have already completed questioning six other suspects in this case. The interrogation of the uncle-nephew duo is expected to play a crucial role in uncovering the alleged conspiracy, financial transactions, and the involvement of each accused. The police custody of Ramshankar Yadav and Manish Yadav will continue until 11 PM on Sunday, after which they will be presented in court as per the remand order.
