
Hyderabad, September 2: Police arrested the son of a prominent art film director in a hit-and-run case on Tuesday. The incident resulted in the death of a pedestrian near the Outer Ring Road (ORR) rotary in Rayadurgam.
Cyberabad police apprehended Sandeep, the son of Anand Sai, in connection with the hit-and-run. The accident occurred early Monday morning on the main road leading from the ORR rotary to Khajaguda village.
According to police reports, a pedestrian, identified as Nandulal, was crossing the road towards Ankura Hospital when he was struck by an Innova Crysta. The vehicle was allegedly driven recklessly and at high speed from the Nankramguda ORR rotary towards Khajaguda.
The collision happened around 4:15 AM. Following the incident, the Innova driver and another individual attempted to take the injured pedestrian to the hospital. However, they were struck by a Mahindra XUV electric car speeding from Khajaguda towards Nankramguda ORR, which then fled the scene.
The pedestrian sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Innova driver, 21-year-old Zaid Shah Qadri, suffered a fractured right leg and other injuries, necessitating hospitalization in Gachibowli.
Police launched an investigation and identified the suspect as Sandeep, the son of art director Anand Sai. A case has been registered at the Rayadurgam police station. Authorities have seized the Mahindra XUV electric car involved in the incident and stated that further investigations are ongoing.
Reports indicate that Anand Sai is a close associate of Andhra Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister and renowned actor Pawan Kalyan. He is also known for designing the Yadadri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple and serves on the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) board.
This incident marks the second occurrence involving the son of a VIP in Hyderabad within a month. Last month, police filed a case against Lingamaneni Sanjus, the son of Rajya Sabha member Lingamaneni Ramesh, following the death of a 26-year-old woman due to his actions.
