Ahmedabad, August 28: The police in Ahmedabad have arrested a 22-year-old man from Rajasthan and seized 234.01 grams of cocaine valued at ₹1.17 crore from him in the Naroda area.
The suspect has been identified as Naresh Sain, a casual laborer from Malwada village in Jalore district, Rajasthan.
Authorities reported that the cocaine was being transported without any permits. The total value of the seized items amounted to ₹1,17,24,510.
This operation was conducted under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector B.M. Kataria, based on a tip-off received by Second Police Inspector S.A. Kotadia of the Naroda police station.
Police received information about a man wearing a pistachio-colored shirt and sky-blue pants carrying a black bag containing narcotics, heading from Nana Chiloda to Sanjay Gandhinagar Society and then towards the Nana Chiloda village intersection.
Following this lead, Surveillance PSI K.S. Kumpawat, along with the surveillance team and witness panchnamas, began monitoring near Sanjay Gandhinagar Society.
The suspect matching the description was spotted heading towards the society from Nana Chiloda Circle and was apprehended.
During the search, police discovered 234.01 grams of cocaine in a sealed plastic container, valued at ₹1,17,00,500. Additionally, an iPhone and an Android mobile phone were also seized.
The confiscated items included ₹9,010 in cash and seven Nepalese currency notes worth ₹125. Police also recovered an Aadhaar card in Naresh Sain’s name and a genuine Indian passport registered under the same name.
A black and gray travel bag filled with clothes was also seized. Authorities have named two other individuals in this case, who have not yet been arrested. These include Ravi Kumar, who allegedly ordered the shipment, and an unidentified person who reportedly supplied the narcotics from Udaipur.
The Naroda police station has registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, sections 8(c), 21(c), and 29.
Officials stated, “This action was taken as part of efforts to curb the illegal sale and transport of narcotics and to detect related crimes.”
