Bhilwara, 18 August (Kiran News): The Income Tax Department conducted simultaneous raids in Bhilwara and Mumbai on Monday in connection with a case involving political party formation, receipt of political donations, and bogus transactions. The department’s teams reached the premises of accountant Kanhaiyalal Bakliwal and his son Ashish Bakliwal, conducting hours-long search operations.

The operation began with the IT team raiding Ashish Bakliwal’s office in Mumbai. At the same time, teams arriving from Delhi and Jaipur reached the residence of Kanhaiyalal Bakliwal (50) in Chandrashekhar Azad Nagar, Pratapnagar police station area, Bhilwara. The action, which started around 1 pm, involved thorough examination of several documents found in the house and questioning of Kanhaiyalal Bakliwal.
The Income Tax Department suspects that the Bakliwal family was involved in bogus transactions under the pretext of donating to political parties. Officials believe that these transactions may reveal dealings worth crores of rupees. The family’s role is considered significant in the ongoing investigation.
This marks the fifth major operation in Bhilwara within the last 35 days. Earlier, on 14 July, the Income Tax Department conducted raids at nearly 150 locations across the country on the directions of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), with extensive searches in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. So far, five premises have been raided in Bhilwara, including two accountants, the national president of a political party, and two office bearers. Monday’s action was the fifth raid in Bhilwara related to this case.
Kanhaiyalal Bakliwal’s office at Mahalaxmi Complex, Rajendra Marg Road, was found closed during the operation. The IT team also seized several important documents from the office of Ashish Bakliwal in Mumbai. The search and interrogation continued until late in the evening.
According to officials, the complete picture of the network of political donations and bogus transactions will only emerge after the operation concludes. Investigating agencies hope that this raid may expose the manipulation of crores of rupees.
