Patna, April 6: In a significant operation, the East Champaran police rescued 16 minor girls from the clutches of orchestra operators on Monday. These operators are allegedly involved in the exploitation of these young girls.
Acting on complaints from various police stations in the Motihari district, a police team conducted simultaneous raids on several locations associated with orchestra groups. During the operation, six operators were arrested. They are accused of forcing minor girls to perform obscene dances under the guise of classical dance.
According to police officials, these coordinated raids were part of a larger campaign aimed at combating human trafficking, child labor, and exploitation in orchestra groups and red-light areas. The initiative also focuses on rescuing victims and ensuring their rehabilitation.
Superintendent of Police Swarn Prabhat from East Champaran reported that two girls were rescued from the Dhaka police station area, two from Pachpakri, and twelve from the Patahi police station area, bringing the total number of rescued girls to 16. FIRs have been registered at the relevant police stations, and further legal action is underway.
Following the operation, it emerged that most of the rescued girls claimed they were lured with promises of jobs, only to be forced into performing obscene dances and engaging in immoral activities.
Police officials confirmed that a thorough investigation of the entire network is ongoing. Initial inquiries suggest that many of the rescued girls are from states outside Bihar, indicating a potential inter-state trafficking racket.
Intensive questioning of the arrested orchestra operators is being conducted to uncover the full extent of the operation. Authorities are also gathering information about other individuals and groups involved in similar activities.
An official stated that efforts are ongoing to identify those involved in such illegal activities and orchestra operators. He further mentioned that strict action would be taken if similar complaints arise from other areas.
