Guwahati, April 7: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has categorically dismissed allegations regarding his family’s ownership of property in Dubai. He labeled these claims as “completely fake” and accused the Congress party of spreading misinformation.
In a post on the social media platform X, Sarma stated that the documents circulating online, which allegedly link his family to Dubai property title deeds, are counterfeit and contain numerous discrepancies.
He emphasized that another falsehood from Congress has been exposed, asserting that the Dubai property title deeds are indeed fraudulent, lacking any legitimate records. Sarma urged the public to verify the facts through Dubai’s official land record portal, noting that there is no official documentation to support these claims. He declared that all allegations have been “completely disproven.”
Sarma also issued a stern warning, stating that legal action will be taken against those disseminating false and defamatory information. He affirmed that all their lies have been uncovered and that legal proceedings will follow.
This controversy arises amid ongoing political tensions between the ruling BJP in Assam and the opposition Congress. Congress leaders, including Gaurav Gogoi and Pawan Khera, have recently raised questions about the alleged foreign assets and connections of Chief Minister Sarma’s family, including claims related to properties in Dubai and foreign documents.
Both Sarma and his family members have firmly rejected these accusations. Previously, Sarma’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, also denied any claims of foreign business interests or assets, labeling the allegations as “baseless.”
