Illegal Mosque Demolished in Uttar Pradeshs Sambhal Following Court Order

New Delhi, June 6: The Uttar Pradesh administration demolished the Mustafa Qadri Mosque on Saturday. This mosque was illegally constructed on a portion of cemetery land.

District Magistrate Ankit Khandelwal stated, “We are continuously removing illegal encroachments on public land in the district. We received a complaint regarding illegal occupation of cemetery land.”

He explained that the Tehsildar’s court issued a notice ordering the removal of the illegal encroachment. An appeal against this order was filed in the District Magistrate’s court. During the hearing, it was determined that the mosque was built on public land and was therefore illegal. Consequently, its demolition was necessary.

DM Khandelwal added, “As part of this process, we are conducting demolition actions. We inspected the site and found several posters, one of which read ‘I Love Muhammad.’ We also discovered some flags. Further investigation is underway.”

Superintendent of Police Krishna Kumar Bishnoi confirmed that police found posters with ‘I Love Muhammad’ written on them at the site. He stated, “We will investigate whether these flags represent any country or religion, and we will look into those involved in printing them and take appropriate action.”

For security reasons, personnel from four police stations have been deployed at the location.

Sub-District Magistrate Nidhi Patel reported that a fine of ₹112,800 has been imposed on the mosque’s manager. She noted, “The mosque manager appeared before the Tehsildar but did not object to the action taken. Since he was the only one present, the fine was levied on him.”

Meanwhile, a local resident alleged that their concerns were not adequately heard in court. They claimed, “We received a unilateral order, and action was taken against our mosque based on that. The order was issued without listening to our side. We were given a date for a hearing, and on that very day, the order was pronounced.”
