Bhopal, June 24: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav addressed a gathering at the memorial site of Rani Durgavati in Narrai Nala, Jabalpur, on the occasion of her martyrdom day. He praised Rani Durgavati as a symbol of indomitable courage and unique valor. The essence of female strength is embodied in her character. Today marks the 463rd martyrdom day of this brave queen, who defeated the Mughals in battle.
CM Yadav highlighted that Rani Durgavati ruled over 52 forts in the Gondwana Empire. After the untimely death of her husband, she placed her five-year-old son on the throne and dedicated herself to serving the people and protecting the region for 15 years. Born nearly 500 years ago in Madhya Pradesh, Rani Durgavati is remembered with respect across the nation and the state. It is a matter of pride that the first cabinet meeting of the state government was held in Jabalpur, dedicated to Rani Durgavati, followed by another meeting in Sangrampur, the capital of her Gondwana Empire. A proposal will be sent to the central aviation ministry to rename Jabalpur Airport in her honor.
The Chief Minister announced that a new institution dedicated to Rani Durgavati is being established near Madan Mahal in Jabalpur at a cost of 100 crore rupees, which will soon be inaugurated. This institution will educate future generations about her glorious past and contributions. Additionally, a zoo and a wildlife rescue center named after Rani Durgavati are being developed in Jabalpur. The 35th Battalion Mandla has also been renamed in her honor. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated the ‘Heritage to Development’ campaign to properly showcase the valor and rich heritage of the nation’s heroes.
Yadav noted that Rani Durgavati’s reign was the golden era of the Gond Empire. She implemented significant agricultural practices like seed collection, crop rotation, and water conservation, resulting in abundant grain reserves.
The CM emphasized the state government’s commitment to farmer welfare, announcing that the requirement for farmers to repay loans by March 31 has been removed. Farmers can now repay loans within one year from the date of borrowing. The state government will pay 880 crore rupees to financial institutions.
He added that the government is continuously working on tourism, industry, and infrastructure development. Farmers will now receive four times the compensation for land acquisition for government projects. The Rani Durgavati Shri Ann Promotion Scheme is benefiting farmers cultivating kodo and kutki. The monthly support of 1500 rupees for the state’s Ladli sisters has enhanced their self-reliance. Farmers are also benefiting from the Prime Minister’s Samman Nidhi. Inspired by Rani Durgavati’s initiatives for farmer welfare, the state government is committed to ongoing agricultural support. There is no shortage of funds for farmer welfare and development schemes.
The CM remarked that Prime Minister Modi is consistently working for tribal welfare. For the first time in the country, a tribal leader, Droupadi Murmu, holds the presidency. The state government operates with the philosophy of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas.’ Our government delivers on its promises.
Public Health Engineering Minister Sampatiya Uike began her address with a powerful poem about Rani Durgavati. She expressed respect for the queen and stated that both the central and state governments are continuously working for the honor, upliftment, and preservation of the tribal community’s language, culture, and traditions. Under CM Yadav’s leadership, the government is actively engaged in water conservation, forest protection, and the development of tribal areas, education, and health. She urged the tribal community to preserve their language, dialects, culture, and traditions, emphasizing that it is our collective responsibility to spread Rani Durgavati’s ideals.
Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh noted that the mere mention of Rani Durgavati evokes feelings of reverence throughout Mahakaushal and Madhya Pradesh. He stated that Rani Durgavati was not just a valiant warrior but also an extraordinary symbol of water management, agricultural systems, self-respect, and dedication to her motherland.
