Dhaka, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : In Dhaka, on September 8, Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi met with Sheikh Rabibul Alam, Bangladesh’s Minister of Shipping, Railways, Road Transport, and Bridges. Their discussions centered on the importance of enhancing connectivity between India and Bangladesh.
The meeting reviewed several topics of mutual interest, including railway, shipping, connectivity, and bilateral development projects. Also present was Bangladesh’s State Minister for Roads, Highways, and Railways, Habibur Rashid.
The Indian High Commission later posted on social media platform X, highlighting that both sides emphasized the significance of strengthening connectivity. This enhancement plays a crucial role in fostering economic ties and deepening people-to-people relationships.
Earlier that day, Trivedi paid a courtesy visit to Bangladesh’s President, Mohammad Shahabuddin, at Bangabhaban, where they discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations. The High Commissioner extended his best wishes to the President and expressed hope for a successful tenure in serving the people of Bangladesh.
According to Bangladeshi media outlet UNB, the President’s press secretary, Mo. Sarwar Alam, reported that President Shahabuddin underscored the importance of Bangladesh’s relationship with India, noting that India is its closest neighbor and a vital partner in trade and development.
The President expressed Bangladesh’s desire to establish a respectful, forward-looking, and mutually beneficial partnership with India, grounded in sovereign equality, national interests, respect, and the welfare of the people.
In thanking the President for his congratulations, Shahabuddin requested Trivedi to convey his gratitude and best wishes to the President of India.
