Heavy Rainfall Warning for Odisha

Bhubaneswar, August 14 (Kiran News): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall across Odisha for the next three days due to a developing low-pressure area over the west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal, near the north Andhra Pradesh–south Odisha coast.

Heavy Rainfall Warning for Odisha

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, the system is likely to intensify into a well-marked low-pressure area within the next 12 hours. Rainfall, which began on Wednesday, is expected to continue across the state today, with moderate to heavy showers in many areas.

An orange alert has been issued for Koraput and Malkangiri districts, where very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall (7–20 cm) is likely. A yellow alert has been issued for the remaining 28 districts, forecasting heavy rainfall accompanied by winds of 30–40 kmph in some areas.

The entire state remains under a yellow alert for August 15 and 16. The IMD has warned that persistent rainfall could lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas and disrupt road transport.

In view of high waves and rough sea conditions, fishermen have been strictly advised not to venture into deep seas until August 16. Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious and follow all safety advisories.
