Gujarat Leads with Fully Digital, Secure Hotel Check-In System

Ahmedabad city crime branch has achieved a significant milestone in digital governance and public safety by becoming the first law enforcement agency in India to sign an official agreement with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) for Aadhaar-enabled guest verification.

This initiative has transformed policing methods and provided citizens and travellers with a seamless, safe, and trustworthy system for hotel check-ins.

Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, Harsh Sanghvi, shared details of this achievement on the social media platform X. He explained that PATHIK (Program for Analysis of Traveller and Hotel Informatics) is making the entire hotel check-in process in Gujarat fully digital and smart. Ahmedabad city crime branch’s initiative exemplifies citizen-centric policing by giving equal importance to convenience and security.

With UIDAI’s support and under the OVSE 2026 framework, the newly launched digital-first hospitality ecosystem has made hotel check-ins completely paper-free. Hotels generate a QR code that guests scan using their mobile phones, enabling Aadhaar-linked identity verification within seconds. There is no need for physical photocopies, lengthy forms, or signature hassles.

A key feature of this system is its privacy-first consent model, which ensures no data is shared without the guest’s explicit approval. This builds trust by safeguarding personal information. The process also effectively prevents the misuse of fake IDs, forged documents, and identity theft.

Real-time face verification technology enhances security by preventing criminals or anti-national elements from staying in Gujarat using false or morphed identities. This strengthens the state’s overall security framework. PATHIK’s scalability is notable, as it can also be used for quick tenant verification, staff and employee checks, and improving community safety through verified identities.

Sanghvi said, “This initiative boosts traveller confidence, promotes safe tourism, and establishes Gujarat as a truly tourist-friendly and tech-driven state. It is an excellent example of how technology and governance can work together to provide security, convenience, and transparency.”
