Lucknow, June 23: A devastating fire in a building located in the Aliganj area of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, has plunged several families into deep mourning. The tragic incident resulted in the loss of 15 lives, with many others injured. Among the deceased is Aditya Srivastava, whose family is now engulfed in grief. Relatives report that Aditya was trapped inside the building and succumbed to smoke inhalation.
Vishal Srivastava, a relative, shared details about the incident, stating that Aditya was the son of his aunt. He confirmed that Aditya lost his life in the fire, having been trapped inside and likely unable to escape due to the smoke.
Aditya’s mother, Kalpana Srivastava, expressed her profound sorrow over her son’s death, describing the incident as an irreparable wound for their family. She revealed that Aditya had secured a job in January of this year and was very excited about his career.
Kalpana Srivastava said, “Everything is over. My son went there to work. His lunch break was from 1 PM to 2 PM. He returned to the office just 10 minutes before the fire broke out. If he had arrived a little later, he might have survived.”
She further clarified that her son’s body was not burned in the fire; he died from smoke inhalation.
In response to the tragedy, the Yogi government announced financial assistance of ₹500,000 for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the site of the incident to assess the rescue and relief operations. He also went to King George Medical University to meet with the injured and their families, gathering information from doctors regarding their treatment.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) reported that a high-level meeting was held under CM Yogi’s leadership to review the situation and the ongoing relief efforts. Following this meeting, a two-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to investigate the Lucknow fire incident.
The SIT includes Amrit Abhijat, Additional Chief Secretary of Tourism, Charitable and Cultural Affairs, and Praveen Kumar, Additional Director General of Police for the Lucknow zone. The Chief Minister has instructed the investigation team to conduct a thorough inquiry and submit their report within seven days.
