
Lucknow, June 23: In response to a devastating fire incident in the Aliganj area of Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered the immediate suspension of four officials. Following the tragedy, the administration has initiated an investigation into negligence and is accelerating actions against those responsible.
The suspended officials include Gaurav Kumar, Executive Engineer of the Janakipuram Collection, Kamalendra Kumar Singh, Food Safety Officer of Indira Nagar, Anil Kumar, Assistant Engineer, and Pramod Pandey, Junior Engineer. The swift action was taken following the Chief Minister’s directives.
The police have registered a case related to the fire incident under crime number 115/2026 at the Aliganj police station. Charges have been filed under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Uttar Pradesh Fire Service Act against six named accused and others deemed responsible.
Authorities have arrested three individuals in connection with the case. The arrested suspects include Ramkrishna Upadhyay (43), a resident of MM-232, Sector-D, Aliganj; Virendra Prasad Shukla (62), residing at 536/265 A, Madiyawan, near the large Durga Temple on Sitapur Road, Lucknow; and Tushok Krishna Jaiswal (31), living at 441 RN/69/3, Neelkanth Hospital Lane, Balaganj, Thakurganj, Lucknow. Police have indicated that further legal actions are ongoing.
Meanwhile, it has come to light that the building owner has fled the scene. Reports suggest that the owner of the building where the fire occurred has locked up their residence and left the premises. A guard stationed outside informed that the house has been closed since Monday morning, and the family has vacated. The guard, who has been working there for the past week, stated that he was only tasked with guarding the property.
According to the guard, he learned about the fire incident upon arriving for duty. He mentioned that BP Shukla and his family reside in the house. The police are now conducting a thorough investigation into the incident, examining the causes and the roles of those involved.
