
New Delhi, June 22: National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during the two-day BRICS National Security Advisors meeting held in New Delhi on Monday. The discussions focused on recent developments in India-China relations.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) shared on the social media platform ‘X’, stating, “National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met with Wang Yi, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China, during the BRICS NSA meeting in New Delhi.”
The MEA further noted that both parties discussed recent developments in bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction with the progress towards normalizing ties. The NSA emphasized that stable, reliable, and positive bilateral relations help strengthen trust and understanding between the two nations.
According to the MEA, the conversation between the two leaders was constructive, addressing several significant issues with an eye on the future.
During the BRICS NSA meeting, NSA Doval also met with Carlos Cozendey, Secretary of Multilateral and Political Affairs from Brazil.
The Ministry stated, “Both sides welcomed the cooperation between India and Brazil under BRICS and reviewed the bilateral relations between the two countries.”
Hosted in New Delhi under India’s presidency, this two-day BRICS National Security Advisors meeting brings together top security officials from member countries. They are discussing new global security challenges and exploring ways to strengthen cooperation on critical strategic issues.
According to the MEA’s statement, the national security advisors and heads of delegations from member countries will share their views on the topic of “non-traditional security challenges facing the world today.”
Officials will discuss rapidly changing security challenges related to national security and emerging threats due to new technologies. Additionally, they will review the outcomes of recent BRICS meetings on counter-terrorism and the safe use of information and communication technology.
