Tragic Drowning Incident Claims Life of 4-Year-Old Girl in Kupwara

Srinagar, June 23: A tragic incident occurred in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, where a 4-year-old girl drowned in a water tank on Monday. The incident took place in the Rainan Kralgund area of Kupwara.

The deceased has been identified as Sibra Javid, the daughter of Javid Iqbal Lone. Officials reported that the girl fell into the water tank while playing near her home in the afternoon.

Family members rushed to the scene immediately, retrieved the girl from the tank, and took her to the Government Medical College (GMC) Handwara. Unfortunately, doctors declared her dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The family is currently in shock and mourning this devastating loss. Meanwhile, the police have taken cognizance of the incident and have initiated necessary actions.

Prior to this tragic drowning, a retired police officer and his son lost their lives in Baramulla district. In another accident in Rajarwani, a driver, 25-year-old Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah, died on the spot, while his father, 68-year-old Syed Ahmad Shah, a retired sub-inspector, was severely injured and rushed to the Sub-District Hospital Uri. Sadly, he later succumbed to his injuries, bringing the total fatalities in this incident to two. The police have also taken note of this accident and are investigating the causes.

Road accidents in the hilly districts of Jammu and Kashmir are primarily attributed to speeding, road rage, overtaking, or poor road conditions.
