Patna, October 14 (Daily Kiran): As the political atmosphere heats up ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, popular folk singer Maithili Thakur joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday. The induction took place at a program in Patna, where BJP State President Dilip Jaiswal welcomed her into the party.

Speaking on the occasion, Jaiswal praised Thakur for showcasing her exceptional talent at a young age. “Maithili Thakur has brought fame to Bihar and India through her art. I congratulate her for joining the Bharatiya Janata Party,” he said.
The BJP chief further asserted that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is set to form the government in Bihar with a two-thirds majority. “All five parties in the NDA have finalized seat-sharing in a harmonious atmosphere, while the opposition is limited to mere statements,” he added, comparing the NDA’s unity to that of the “five Pandavas.”
In recent weeks, speculation about Thakur’s political entry grew after her meetings with BJP National General Secretary and Bihar in-charge Vinod Tawde and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai.
Born in Benipatti, Madhubani district, Maithili Thakur is the daughter of music teacher Ramesh Thakur and Bharti Thakur. A celebrated folk and classical singer, she began her musical journey at the age of 11 in 2011 and turned 25 this July.
