Mumbai, April 9: Actress Preeti Jhangiani, known for her roles in “Mohabbatein,” “Udaipur Files,” and “Awara Pagal Deewana,” is now leading her own sports federation. Recently, she expressed gratitude to the government for the Women’s Reservation Bill, emphasizing that women’s participation will bring about positive changes in the country.
In an interview with a news agency, Jhangiani stated, “Finally, the Women’s Reservation Bill is being passed. I believe everyone has waited for over 27 years for this, as it was first introduced in 1996. This is not just a political step but a historic one. It feels like women have finally been given the freedom to sit at the table and voice their decisions and opinions. This bill is a significant moment for those women who have fought for it and waited long.”
She further noted, “The passage of this bill will have a broad impact on India’s development. Countries with higher female participation in politics and business tend to progress faster than others. Issues like girls’ education and health are being addressed there. In our country, increased female participation in local governance has already led to positive changes, visible from rural education to road conditions. I sincerely thank our government for this, as it was greatly needed in our nation, and now it is happening.”
When asked about her future in politics, Jhangiani mentioned that she is already contributing to society without entering politics. “I run several NGOs and support athletes from underprivileged villages. However, if a political party approaches me, I will definitely consider it, as my country comes first for me,” she added.
