Tehran, April 9: Iran has dismissed U.S. demands, asserting that its uranium enrichment program will not be halted. This statement from Mohammad Eslami, the head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, could complicate the situation further amid a ceasefire announcement.
According to the government-backed Iran Students News Agency (ISNA), Eslami stated, “The aggressors will not succeed in limiting Iran’s enrichment program.”
His remarks contradict statements made by U.S. President Donald Trump and other officials, who claimed there would be “no enrichment of uranium” in Iran.
Following the ceasefire announcement, Trump wrote on Truth Social, “The U.S. will work with Iran, which we have determined is undergoing a very successful ‘regime change’ process! Now, uranium enrichment will not happen. The U.S., in collaboration with Iran, will excavate all nuclear ‘particles’ buried deep underground (B-2 bombers). This will be possible under strict satellite surveillance. Nothing has been touched since the date of the attack. We are negotiating relief on tariffs and sanctions with Iran, and we will continue to do so. Many points have already been agreed upon.”
Mohammad Eslami emphasized, “The enemy will not succeed in limiting Iran’s enrichment program,” and deemed it essential to protect the right to uranium enrichment in negotiations with the U.S. He described such demands as “pure imagination” that cannot halt Iran’s nuclear activities.
Eslami made these comments during a press conference held in honor of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He added, “No law or individual can stop us,” and noted that previous actions by adversaries, including the ongoing war, have failed.
