
New Delhi, March 4: Finnish President Alexander Stubb has arrived in India for a three-day official visit. This trip follows an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and marks President Stubb’s first visit to India since taking office.
Upon his arrival in New Delhi, he was welcomed at the airport by Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh. A Guard of Honor was also presented to the Finnish President.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) posted on the social media platform ‘X’, stating, “A warm welcome to you in India. President Alexander Stubb of the Republic of Finland has arrived in New Delhi. A formal welcome and Guard of Honor were accorded. Minister of State Kirti Vardhan Singh welcomed him at the airport.”
President Stubb will remain in India until March 7, accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes ministers, senior officials, and prominent business leaders.
During his visit, he will participate as the chief guest in the 11th edition of the Raisina Dialogue, taking place from March 5 to 7, where he will deliver a keynote address.
According to the MEA, Prime Minister Modi and President Stubb will engage in extensive discussions aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors. They will also address regional and global issues, including collaboration on multilateral platforms. PM Modi will host a lunch in honor of President Stubb.
Throughout his stay, President Stubb will meet with President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan. He will also discuss opportunities to strengthen bilateral relations with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
After his engagements in Delhi, President Stubb will travel to Mumbai, where he will meet Maharashtra’s Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. In Mumbai, he will engage with Indian business leaders and participate in the India-Finland Business Forum. Additionally, he is scheduled to address students at the University of Mumbai.
The MEA emphasized that India and Finland share a friendship based on common democratic values and maintain strong multilateral relations. Finland is regarded as an important partner for India within the European Union and the Nordic region.
The Ministry stated, “President Stubb’s visit follows Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo’s trip to India for the ‘AI Impact Summit’ in February 2026, highlighting both countries’ commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and deepening people-to-people ties across various sectors.”
