Lucknow, June 16: The police in Lucknow have arrested a man who posed as a fake IPS officer to intimidate a local tea vendor. The incident occurred in the Gol Market area, where the accused, Mithilesh Shukla, was involved in a dispute over money with the shopkeeper. When the police arrived at the scene, Shukla ordered them to salute him and wear their caps, claiming to be an IPS officer stationed in Noida.
Upon being asked for identification, Shukla hesitated and promised to provide it later. His evasive behavior raised suspicions, leading the police to detain him. During questioning, the truth about his identity was revealed.
According to police reports, Mithilesh Shukla, 40, resides in Bharat Nagar on Sitapur Road in Lucknow’s Madiyav area. He works as an account executive at a Samsung company in Noida Sector 18 and is not a police officer.
An FIR has been filed against Shukla under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Section 132 (impersonation of a public servant), Section 221 (committing an offense while disguised), and Section 204 (destruction of evidence). He has been sent to judicial custody.
Investigations revealed that Shukla frequently impersonated an IPS officer to threaten and intimidate others. His brazen display of authority during a minor dispute left bystanders astonished. Thanks to the prompt action of the police, this impersonator was swiftly apprehended.
