Chandigarh, June 18: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has announced a ‘Dharam Yudh Morcha’ set to commence on June 19 from Sri Akal Takht Sahib. This initiative aims to remove Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who has been accused of “grave sacrilege.”
SAD President Sukhbir Badal stated that the protest will be held under the spiritual guidance of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He emphasized that Mann’s actions against Guru Sahib and Sikh leaders are intolerable. Badal remarked that Mann has tested the patience of the Sikh community, and the situation has reached a breaking point.
He called upon all religious organizations, saints, religious figures, Sikh scholars, intellectuals, socio-religious groups, and political parties to unite against Mann, labeling him as “Guru-drohi” (betrayer of the Guru) and “Panth-virodhi” (against the community). This includes Sikh leaders from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Congress, and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Badal also announced the formation of a five-member coordination committee, led by senior Akali leader Sardar Balwinder Singh Bhunder. The committee, which includes Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal, Gulzar Singh Raniake, Daljit Singh Cheema, and Amarjeet Singh Chawla, will convene to encourage collective participation in the protest against Mann.
Furthermore, Badal declared that Akali legislators will not attend the assembly sessions as long as Mann remains in office. He accused Mann and his family, including his daughter, of violating the sanctity of Sikh religious sites while under the influence of drugs. Badal claimed that Mann has tarnished the image of the Sikh community in both Parliament and the assembly.
